In this Workshop, you will learn:

A recent headline-grabbing study suggested that the “calories in, calories out” way we’ve been thinking about exercise is all wrong. It found, among other things, that our bodies adjust the ways they expend energy to keep our total calorie burn within a narrow range. In other words, desk workers burn only slightly fewer calories than gardeners or teachers each day. Exercise does not significantly move the needle on the scale for most people, the study concluded.

But this is only part of the story. A dozen or more studies show that regular exercise does positively impact fitness, longevity, and cellular, metabolic, and neurological health. Small-scale and large-scale physiologic benefits occur with increased physical activity, and exercise can improve cognition, memory, sleep, and anxiety, all of which do impact weight loss.

In this webinar, the acclaimed researcher and thought leader Rachele Pojednic, PhD, will explain her research and work regarding the broad range of benefits associated with exercise, including those that may help other healthy habits stick. In this webinar, you will learn:

  • How exercise positively impacts mental health and motivation
  • How the improvements in working memory, cognition, and overall brain health associated with physical movement can promote healthy habits
  • The types and frequency of exercise that are most likely to yield specific benefitsHow to reframe exercise as a type of important and impactful self-care that goes beyond weight loss
  • How to reignite your relationship with exercise in a healthy and sustainable way
